4 Quarantine Clean Tips

Quarantine Clean Tips:  How to care for your teeth during the COVID-19 scare

Looks like we will be stuck with social distancing guidelines longer than expected.  Let’s not let the distance between us affect our hygiene.  This distance has a tendency to loosen societal pressure to perform personal hygiene.  I want to protect the clients of Promenade Dental Care from such regression.  Some of my patients require cleanings at shorter intervals than every six months.  So, I thought I’d send a reminder or word to the wise as to how a premium dental health routine should be.  Here are 4 quarantine clean tips to raise your dental IQ:
  • Step 1: Brush for 2 minutes every night.  Floss between all your teeth every night.
  • Step 2: Do not eat or drink anything other than water after step 1.  Go to sleep after step 1.
  • Step 3: Brush for 2 minutes in the morning as soon as you wake up.
  • Step 4: Repeat steps 1-4
Some patients precious teeth fall in the category we spoke about earlier; requiring more specific care.  Investing in the right equipment will help.  If an electric toothbrush is not in your repertoire, now is the time to consider one.  Also, floss threaders, interproximal brushes, interdental brushes, floss pics, water pics, fluoride rinses, etc. should be used regularly, but especially during night time routine (step 1). If your toothbrush or electric toothbrush head is over 3 months old, replace it!  New bristles clean better.  Old bristles harbor germs and aren’t effective at removing debris.
If you are experiencing dental pain, swelling due to dental infection, tooth abscess, dental trauma, etc. do not report to the hospital!  Most, if not all dental offices are available for emergency consultation.  If not, contact Promenade Dental Care at 404-607-6960.
Stay safe and brush well,
A Lehman Harris DDS
